Team Ahsoka is Taking a Break

A short hiatus or a permanent break? Only time will tell.

If you’ve been following me on social media for a while, you’ll know that I’ve taken several brief hiatuses over the past year. On some occasions, it was due to an increased workload or family issues. Other times, I just found it tough to muster the enthusiasm to participate in fandom and, instead, retreated to my private Twitter account, where I could continue to talk about Ahsoka, the animated series, and other Star Wars-related topics with a much smaller group of trusted Twitter friends.

Lately, I’ve been feeling increasingly apprehensive about engaging with the larger Star Wars fanbase. On the one hand, I have met a lot of welcoming and amazingly talented people via social media and have enjoyed chatting about that faraway galaxy with anyone who cared to listen. On the other, it seems like there’s a new point of contention every day and, at times, Star Wars Twitter has been a cliquey nightmare to navigate. Earlier this summer, a throwaway joke about a fictional kid turned into a days-long incident that stretched the limits of my patience and convinced me to shut down my most active Twitter account for a while. Unpleasant as it was, the incident taught me a valuable lesson: Sometimes it’s better to keep one’s opinions to oneself and celebrate fandom on a smaller scale.

Ahsoka Tano leaves

What does this mean for Team Ahsoka the site? Well, I haven’t fully decided what to do with this site, though it will remain online for now, just in case I change my mind and decide to pick up where I left off. With a new season of The Clone Wars on the horizon and the possibility of new Ahsoka stories in the not-too-distant future, I may decide to jump back into the fray and revive Team Ahsoka months from now. Or I might not. Who knows?

In any case, it’s time for me to focus on other projects for the time being and continue to enjoy Star Wars in my own carefree way. In the meantime, you can find me over at @Kello_Ren, where I tweet about Star Wars, Tomb Raider, and any other fandom-related topic that takes my fancy.

Before I sign off for now, I’d like to thank everyone who has supported Team Ahsoka over the years and helped me expand my tiny collection of Ahsoka merchandise. It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you all and sharing our mutual love for Star Wars, and I hope our paths cross again soon enough.

So, see you around, kids, and may the Force be with you. 😉

  1. Love this site! I’m an overgrown kid at 57 with a wife and two grown kids who’s a big fan of the Ahsoka character and find this site fun!

Sorry to hear about your recent experience on social media. Anything can get really ugly really fast and it’s not always easy to know when to disengage or not engage at all. It’s amazing how hateful it can get on SW ‘fan’ facebook pages but I think people take their life’s frustrations and let them loose on the net. I’ve had to learn how not to engage in pointless ‘shouting’ matches on sites and pages and find not-engaging when a conversation turns ugly is the best way to handle it.

I hope you’ll come back to this site for updates. It’s fun and there definitely more good experiences to be had than bad ones.
