All Good Things Come to an End…

Team Ahsoka is calling it a day, this time for good.

Earlier this summer, I made the decision to stop updating Team Ahsoka and its social media accounts but since I hate abandoning blogs without warning, I thought I’d post one final update to explain why I’m giving up this years-old project for good.

At the risk of sounding whiny/entitled/lazy/whatever you want to call it, it became quite clear soon after I launched the site that the Star Wars fansite community was a little cliquey, that you had to be able to attend conventions on a regular basis if you wanted to do any first-hand reporting or develop a good working relationship with Lucasfilm staff and Star Wars cast and crew. This was something that was well outside of my budget and it soon became a source of frustration. This was compounded by the fact that I was never able to meet Ashley in person or even get her to retweet an interview I did with one of her fashion show contestants. That took the wind out of my sails and dampened my enthusiasm for running this site.

Ahsoka Tano leaves

Nevertheless, I kept at it and tried to remain active on social media, even when I found it hard to motivate myself to create new content for the site. As the months passed and rumours began to surface about a possible recasting of the character for live action, it became difficult to stay neutral, especially when worrying allegations about the rumoured new actress started to dominate any discourse about Ahsoka’s future on the small screen. Like many others, I was concerned about these allegations, which I felt flew in the face of everything Ahsoka represented. And as we approach the premiere of The Mandalorian’s second season, I feel I just don’t have the time or energy to deal with any possible fallout from any angle. So it felt like as good a time as any to call it a day.

Add to that the ongoing trend of Ahsoka-themed merchandise being made limited edition pieces and ridiculously hard for non-US fans to get a hold of and I honestly don’t see any point in keeping Team Ahsoka alive. It’s had a decent run and I’ve made a lot of good friends as a result of running this site and its social media accounts, but I know when it’s time to move on.

While this is the end for Team Ahsoka, I do have a number of other projects you are welcome to check out. If you’re a fan of the Tomb Raider game series and spin-off media, you might want to visit my site, Tomb Raider Horizons, where I combine my love for the franchise with my own personal interest in archaeology and ancient history. And if Tomb Raider is not your cup of tea, you’re more than welcome to visit my other Star Wars-related site, All Things Attack of the Clones. The site was in its early stages at the time of writing but I hope to turn it into a fun repository of Attack of the Clones facts, fan art, cosplay photos, fan creations, memes, and opinion pieces.

One final heads up: The current @TeamAhsoka account on Twitter is in no way affiliated with this site or myself. When I closed that account, I forgot to park the username somewhere safe and someone else claimed the username for themselves the following day. So if you would like to contact me via Twitter, your best bet is to contact me via my personal account, @Kello_Ren, or via @AllThingsAOTC.

For now, dear readers, thank you for your support over the years and may the Force be with you, always.

  1. I’m sorry to see it close for good, but I completely understand your reasons for doing so. I know I’ve said it before, but Team Ahsoka was one of my first positive experiences on Twitter back when I was brand new to the platform. I’m more than certain that plenty of others have appreciated this site just as much as (if not more than) I have.

I’ll still be in touch! May the Force be with you, Kelly! All the luck in the universe with your current and future endeavors!
